Tuesday: Rewritten

It appears that few follow the weekday chorelist posted yesterday. Others don't perform some of the chores that were listed, at all...imagine that!

Perhaps the posted list is now the schedule of the housekeepers and caretakers, and the rest of the world has gone on to chores like shopping (not to be confused with the posted Market Day), shopping, and shopping...

I must confess that we, too, are guilty of altering the list some. While we did rest Sunday afternoon and evening, and did do the laundry yesterday, today had no irons or ironing on either of our agendas. I have no sewing planned for tomorrow; if I cleaned only on Friday, I'd never have a Friday to call my own; baking is best done in the spring, fall and winter in Iowa; the best markets here are Wednesday and Saturday...

And, I seem to fit some yardening into every day as Kevin does creeking.

But, for the most part, in our neck of da Woods, Tuesday is:

Billiards Day!

...and:

Massage Day!

Hope your day had some time for you in it.

Make nice!

The Tuesdays I don't work are my favorites because I get to do whatever I want.

Our schedule for chores:

Every day is haul kids around day. Every day is laundry day. Saturday is cleaning day. Friday night is we-don't-care-how-bad-things-look-'cause-we-ain't-lifting-a-damned-finger night. Sometimes that night gets shifted to other nights as well.

DP, you asked about what orchids are good for starters. I'm not sure that I really have a recommendation, in that I've only really succeeded with one orchid. That being said, the first orchid I grew was a terrestrial, fancy talk for growing on the ground. This last one is an epiphyte, which lives on tree bark and gets its nutrition mostly from the air. It looks great now, but they always look good at first.

What I know:

1. Water weekly, and don't water until they are completely dry (but then water again soon).

2. Don't touch them a whole bunch.

3. Mist them. Or, if you are a lax mister, you can put them in a plate of water (so that the pot and its saucer sits on the plate). This give it a moist environment.

I just like getting up really close and looking at these bizarre flowers. Orchids are sort of an argument against "intelligent design" in that they are so gaudy and over-the-top.

Mine are by the sink and make washing the dishes much more exotic.

Speaking of Orchids..
I just made a new post on Nancyturtle's Notes that Cranium Man might want check out. Keep in mind that I kill most houseplants and wouldn't ever attempt to grow an orchid!
