Tumor Birds, Tumor Tales
This would be the second in our 'Bird Pair' series; two house finches on the feeder called, the Yankee Flipper. Supposedly squirrel-proof, but I saw a squirrel hang on for over forty-five rotations before letting go. (The ring on the bottom starts spinning with the weight of anything heavier than a squirrel.) Granted, if flipped him, but a couple more rides like the last one, and that squirrel would have the battery dead and the feeder to call his own. *grins*
Tumors were doused with another chemotheraputic cocktail this morning. Blood draw at 7:15 looked good except for the red cell distribution width being a bit high and the red blood cell count was a tad low. Overall, it indicated that the infusion was a go.
My initial bp, after walking from the parking lot and through the hospital was 123/75. By the time I walked, 75 ft., straight down the hall, my bp had risen to 145/85. ...amazing what our minds can do over our best intentions *sighs*
dd arrived before the infusion began and was most helpful in getting me settled, comfortable, relaxed, and quasi-asleep as the infusion progressed. *healing hugs* Kevin had music and headphone sets for both dd and me to share *grins*
The infusion started late since the clinic was sorely understaffed. Our Suite had four chairs this time; they filled up quickly. I was the newest kid on the block... This was the roughest IV stick that I've had -- uncomfortable but bearable. Also had no blood pressure cup attached...maybe because dd was keeping my bp low???
Otherwise, things went as smoothly as they could.
Kevin caught lunch on his way back to work and I had reheatables available.
Spent some time posting to other blogs, some of which I will probably grab and repost here rather than trying to rewrite.
I spent most of the afternoon quietly enjoying da Woods; what a blessing!
How was your day??
Make nice!!

I was just thinking we hadn't heard much from dd lately! I've missed you! How is your mouth healing?
dp, for low red cell counts, go for the dark green veggies. (advice courtesy of DonnaMarie, the vegetarian.)

We've been looking to see what helps with both white cells (seems little natural?) and red. Might DonnaMarie also have some recipes to share *looks the gifthorse square in the mouth*
Are you working this weekend??
My usual Sunday, Monday and Tuesday nights. I'll ask DM about recipes-she makes a good Cauliflower casserole that might adapt to something greener.
As for white cells, I think natural anything that boosts the immune system should help.
Welcome the the real Iowa summer. My Friday work day ended with a family counseling session involving a deaf woman whose daughter refused to speak in session. Charming paradox!
Big Wooden Radio went down to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to perform on the square. We got there and there was the proverbial flat bed trailer. At least it was clean. CSPS set us up with one once that had broken glass all over it.
Mt. Pleasant really enjoyed us (beer on the town square didn't hurt), and a fella asked to buy my hat.
This is a good hat, and I have a big melon head (hence moniker Cranium Man). The gentleman wanted my hat for a church raffle, and has a friend who collects signed hats from musicians who happens to be a BWRadiot.
Now, getting a hat that fits, when you are a "7 and 7/8ths long-oval" is not a small feat. [Kudos to Mr. Levy who gave me an exquisite, fitted Redbirds baseball cap in the correct size! Amazing.]
The hat: A Guatemalan Palm Fedora, prominent in many band photos. Absolutely a life-saver on a sunny flat-bed truck in July in Iowa. Sold to me by Hatman Jack (check out his website) a class mate who learned to make hats from septegenerian masters in Hutchinson, Kansas [Czech guys who had antique wooden hat molds, who sold them to my friend Jack.]
I'm torn. I can go to 'ta and get another good hat, and I like the gesture. I'm also attached to the last vestiges of "rock star" treatment. It's not really "deserved" anymore.
By industry standards we are defunct. We will probably not do another CD and have nothing that resembles "momentum."
Last night in Mt. Pleasant we gave them a show. And they seemed to like it.
And I ended up not minding the flat-bed all that much.
Today is my birthday. I am grateful for those of you who are my friends and family, who actually knew my hat size. Who remind me that you have my mike stand. Thanks to DP for hooking me on blogging. Thanks to Kevin for giving me sh*t about spelling!
Today is reputed to be a very lucky day. 7-7-07. I know that Kevin and Diana are very lucky to have all of you in their lives.
I am also very fortunate in this regard. Peace in the neighborhood! S.
Happy Birthday Cranium Man (aka 7-squared)
