Mother and Child Reunion

Okay, fine, nobody's worried about the missing urine. The conclusion on Marie is that she just has a urinary tract infection, so they're giving her a new antibiotic and sending her home.

First, though, they brought her up to sixth floor to visit Diana. They hung out bed to bed for about a half hour, and Marie and Connie left a few minutes ago.

Diana thanked Marie for coming, but suggested next time, she should just take the SEATS bus...

Great photo! So is the CT they did last night for her swallow issue? And it turned out fine? We leave tomorrow for Spain but I will try to figure out a way to check this. I know most of you would be able to do it with no problem, but it'll take some work for us! We look forward to your progress1 I was going to say as much as you do, but that wouldn't be fair. Love you guys! Katie

No, the CT was to make sure that there wasn't anything going wrong with her brain -- sleepiness is one of the symptoms of serious problems. That's why they wake her up every two hours, day and night. She had several the last time we were here. If we don't hear anything, that means they showed no problems.

The cookie swallow test was scheduled for tomorrow, but I guess our resident (Dr J) said something to dp about a test on Monday, so I don't know if that's the cookie test or what.

For what it's worth, I'd vote for rehab even though it will mean more time out of Da Woods. DP has had a lot of accumulated weakness and probably could use a rehab Nazi to get her strength back up. The Da Woods would be a lot less like Da Hospital, and spring is coming. Consider it Spring Training!

I talked to my doctor and she said the incubation period for Influenza B is 7 days, and that once you have it you are contagious for 7 days. I'm on Tamaflu as a prophylactic but I could still have these little viral boogers on my lapel or something, so I'm going to cheer from a distance for the next week and a half or so.

Robyn confirms that Diana DEFINITELY does not want this flu. She's croaking like a chain smoker and wandering around like she's 70 years old.

Katie, they have wireless in Spain and cell phones are reportedly all over the place. Learn Spanish for Geek and you'll be all right. I think it's "Geeko del computador," but I'm not sure. I'll ask my Colombian neighbor.

I'm just so glad there has been a subsidence of the swelling, and that there's now a place for that fluid to go. Go girl!

I love the picture. It reminds me that when I was at Meriter Hospital, after having Patrick, Dad was recovery at St. Mary's from his triple bi-pass. The afternoon Patrick was born, mom came in, pushing Dad in a wheelchair. They let him come about 1/2 mile or so. I couldn't believe it.
I'm glad that dp is back on her feet, even if it's with help. Kevin, you could probably benefit from catching up on sleep yourself.
Love you guys.
