Thanksgiving Morning

...is not good. dp spent most of the night wretching. Her potassium was "dangerously low," and when she couldn't keep the pills down, they started pumping it IV. According to dp, it burns.

She's dozing now, and not real interested in talking to anyone. She's pretty miserable. The steroids they're giving her to shrink the tumor increase stomach acid, raise her blood pressure and her blood sugar, so they give her more drugs to treat those symptoms. Dr. C was in first thing in the morning again -- he was very sympathetic.

Sorry I can't give better news -- I'll probably do an update later today.

Oh My! What "Thanks" is this anyway? My heart goes out to you both! I have been heartsick since learning of this latest turn of events from Jeffy. Thank you so much for keeping up this blog with updates. I would love to talk to you sometime too, however, to get more details and give my love. One downside of this blog is that it enables some of us to keep our distance, even when doing so is selfish and primarily due to the avoidance of the difficult. I guess in some respects I'm just a big wimp.
By contrast, your strength is inspiring. Both of you are and have always been inspiring to me. On this day, I give my thanks to you both for all that you have meant to me for more than 30 years.
Another downside of this blog is that it could contribute to YOU not getting the support you need? Not that I can do much from here, perhaps, since there is too dang much 'literal' distance between us - especially now. Give me a call if you can AND want to. Be strong. Give Diana a squeeze for me. Love, perry

Hey, Perry!

I actually feel quite supported. I think that knowing that I have an army of supportive people behind me makes me less in need of reaching out to them.

Besides, having to say this over and over to people is difficult.

dp's been sleeping pretty well for awhile now. She slept from about 10 to noon, woke up to go the bathroom and wretch for 30 minutes, and then fell back to sleep.

I've got Trooley in the car, so I made a run to the parking lot to let him out for a few minutes. Then I went down to the cafeteria to get myself some Thanksgiving pizza (and a salad -- I'm not reverting completely to type...)

Dear Kevin,

We are hoping and praying that things get better. Does Auntie Marie realize how sick Diana is right now? Thank you for the updates. I feel so helpless and regret not keeping in touch the last few weeks. You are in our thoughts. I'm going to write Diana's name in our "Book of Life" at church and our whole parish will be praying for her this week. Give her our love. I agree with the last posting about the avoidance of the difficult. Please hug her for me.
