Short Hairs
A tip: don't go into brain surgery with a french braid. The surgeon was pretty conservative with the shaving, but on top of the chemo, dp's hair was pretty tattered. We asked Bree to come over, and I donated my hair to Locks Of Love (the next time you snicker at somebody's bad hairpiece, remember that it might be me.) Bree cleaned up the back of dp's head, and she'll see what she can style once dp can wash her hair after the stitches come out.
Life here is progressing. The physical therapist was here today, and she's given us simple exercise to do while she clears two weeks' of visits for therapy. dp's still pretty weak, but she's eating well and only seeing one of everything. There's an appointment with the radio oncology dept on Monday, and that will include a follow-up MRI. There's another appointment on Tuesday -- I suppose I should find out where, but we've taken to dealing one appointment at a time.
Tomorrow there are some folks coming by to help with holiday lights, and I've got a new snowplow guy.
I just have to remember to wear a hat...

Wow! I had heard a rumor about this.. I have known you a long time and only remember pictures of hair that short! (8th grade was still longer on top.) Kathleen said you look like Grandpa Doc... I don't see it though. You look great and I'm sure dp will too once she gets the full look. Since my ears have been exposed for most of the last 30 years, I agree with the hat! Now I know what to get you for the holidays.
Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your visitor next week.
Love,
Else
I'm glad you posted this before Monday, the shock might have been too much!
Actually, my first thought was how much Kevin looks like Doc, something I hadn't noticed before. Doc's a nice looking man, so that's a good thing.
i can't belive you cut your hair kevien u will look so different. i still like it though.
love,
hannah
P.S. hope you feel better
love,
hannah
You look good! xxoo
And hats off...sorry if that makes you cold...to the folks putting up the lights! Since it has been cold and snowy since Thanksgiving, there will be none up at our house this year.
Katie
Wow Guys!
I've spent the morning reading your blog. I just found out about all of this last week from Perry. That will teach me for not dropping in for 10 years. Yes, it's been that long since my last wonderful afternoon at your house! (And I still laugh out loud every time I think of your garage door opener and the idea of the "Not A Bell" sign). Note of anyone else reading this - you had to be there.
I wish I was closer, but in lieu of - big hugs to both of you and healing energies coming your way.
Much love,
Laurel
I always thought hair was over-rated, personally. Kevin's butch makes him look like Doc, all right, only I don't recall that Doc has a permanent part on the top of his head.
I stopped by last night. Diana's color is much, much better. She's still pretty tired and sore.
She got to see the look on my face when I met the "new, trim Kevin." No verdict on Diana's hair, 'cause she can't fix it until the stitches are out, and besides, she still has below the ears hair.
Not like "new, Trim Kevin."
Yay! Single vision! So she can get a good look at her handsome "new"husband. Happy b'day Kev. I'd forgotten you too were a Saggitarius. It must be great to be home, Diana. Love, Patty
Dear Diana and Kevin,
I can't believe that they had to make such a large incision. I guess they can't do everything with little cuts like they do with gall bladder surgery. It is amazing that the human body can take that much trauma. No wonder Diana feels tired and weak. Both of your hair cuts will be so easy to maintain now and it will be fun to watch it grow. Hoping and praying for good news after the Monday and Tuesday appointments.
All of our love,
Carol and Fred
Nancy arrives today right? I wish her an uneventful trip and Happy Belated Birthday! Katie
Thanks, Katie. I am here and the flight was uneventful. Would you believe that this is the first time I've been in DaWoods in the snow? It's quite lovely.
Luckily enough, we've been hold outs in the wearing of hats most our lives to prepare.
Love you both,
Carl
